In the summer of 2007, Jay Caldwell, and his father Jack Caldwell, broke ground on a new type of auto dealership in Arkansas.
An auto dealership dedicated to promoting sustainability in our community, providing attentive professional service and offering efficient, quality vehicles to improve the lives of the people in the communities Caldwell Toyota-Scion serves.
We know that you, like a growing number of people, are aware that as our world changes, sustainability and conservation makes sense for our communities shared environment and for your pocketbook.
Caldwell Toyota-Scion built the first green dealership in Arkansas for just that reason. The dealership building combines technologies like efficient cutting edge lighting and environmental controls and solar lighting to reduce electricity usage. Recycled and renewable materials were used in the dealership's construction and in the building's furnishings. A large cistern is used to catch water from the roof and building condensate to irrigate the landscaping of native, drought resistant plants. Waterless urinals in the bathrooms and a car wash which filters and recycles the water it uses, ensure that we save hundred's of thousands of gallons of water each year. Needless to say, a dealership which uses less electricity and water costs less to operate than other buildings it's size, helps everyone save money.
Later this summer, Caldwell Toyota will conclude it's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. The LEED Certification process is a nationally recognized standard for all green buildings. Once certification has been given, Caldwell Toyota will join only a very small number of LEED certified buildings in the state and will be Arkansas first LEED retail store of any kind. Other LEED buildings in central Arkansas are the Clinton Library, the Heifer Foundation headquarters and the Rockefeller Foundation headquarters.
Caldwell Toyota-Scion strongly encourages everyone to support sustainability efforts in your community and to conserve and recycle whenever possible. If we all work together, we can help create a better tomorrow for our children, our community and the planet.
UPDATE: Jay Caldwell has announced that Caldwell Toyota has now be awarded LEED gold certifacation. This is a great accomplishment, few buildings have this status even in the nation. Caldwell Toyota is the only LEED retail store in the entire state of Arkansas. Jay and his father have done this for our community and our customers here in Conway Arkansas. Remember this is for you the customer when we reduce our expenses, it effects our cost of operation. When we have a lower cost of operation, we can pass that on to you in a lower vehicle pricing. Come see why so many people are becoming part of our the Caldwell Family. Learn more on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/user/caldwelltoyota
